  • How did I get bed bugs?

Bed bugs can come from any number of sources. They may find their way into your luggage while traveling, from your place of work, or even from a friend’s home. The possibilities are nearly endless.

  • When are bed bugs active?

Bed bugs are primarily active during evening hours and hide from the light.

  • Where do bed bugs hide?

Bed bugs live in cracks, crevices, seams, electrical outlets, wall voids, baseboards, picture frames, inside mattresses and box springs, and inside other upholstered furniture. Any small gap could be a good hiding place for bed bugs.

  • Do bed bugs carry diseases?

Currently, the CDC and USDA say there is no evidence of diseases being carried or spread by bed bugs.

  • Do I have to get rid of all my furniture and remove all of my clothing from closets in preparation for a thermal treatment?

No. All of these items should remain in the home for your pest control treatment. Eliminating clutter can make a big difference in the success of the treatment, though.

  • Can you see bed bugs?

Yes. Adult bed bugs are easy to see but hide very well. Often, immature bed bugs and eggs are very difficult to see or find for someone who is not trained in what to look for.

  • What are signs that I may have an infestation?

Along with visually identifying bed bugs, small dark red or brown spots may appear on bed linens, furniture, and light clothing. Castings, which are shed exoskeletons, may be found in areas where populations have grown. Eggs may be found in clusters in small cracks, crevices, and seams.

  • What does a bed bug bite look like?

Reactions from bed bug bites are different for everyone. Some people will have nearly no reaction whatsoever while others may have itchy red bumps around the bite area. In fact, according to Forbes, only 30% of humans show any signs of bed bug bites after being bitten.

  • How do bed bugs spread?

Bed bugs attach themselves to clothing, bags, purses, and more. They can also be brought into the home in used furniture and clothing.

  • I have a lot of stuff! What preparations do I need to make before the treatment?

Our technicians will go over any steps you need to take prior to treatment when the inspection is made and treatment is scheduled. Each situation is different. An experienced and professional pest control service will know what needs to happen in order to be successful.
